Verdict. The STYRSPEL is IKEA's gaming chair and it breaks from most of the sector: instead of an upholstered backrest that traps heat, it runs breathable mesh, and adds an adjustable headrest, adjustable lumbar, 3D armrests and adjustable seat depth. For anyone alternating long sessions and home-office work it's a very interesting alternative to faux-leather gaming chairs, with IKEA's warranty and EN 1335 certification behind it. It loses some of the classic racing look but gains in freshness and adjustment.

What the community says

Positive reception among those after a gaming chair that doesn't get hot: the breathable mesh and the set of adjustments (lumbar, headrest, 3D armrests, seat depth) uncommon at this price are valued. Criticisms note it loses the racing look many associate with gaming and that the padding is firmer than on faux-leather chairs.

  • Users who sweat in faux-leather gaming chairs
  • Anyone who values adjustable lumbar, headrest and seat depth

Not ideal for

  • Anyone wanting to recline almost flat to rest
